About Me
Hi! I’ve been playing drums for over 28 years, and I truly believe anyone can learn to play. Some people may have a natural feel for rhythm and groove… but with consistent practice, anyone can improve and enjoy drumming.
My musical journey started with piano from ages 6–12, then French horn from middle school through college on a music scholarship. Those instruments gave me a strong foundation in music theory. I also marched in high school drumline, which shaped my approach to rhythm and performance. If you have the chance to join school band or take piano lessons, I highly recommend it — it adds to your overall musicality.
When I coach, I focus heavily on groove and feel. We break songs down section by section and learn how the parts fit together. Instead of traditional recitals, students finish by recording a full drum cover in my studio and leave with a personal copy mixed into a real track. My studio features Universal Audio gear and custom drums, creating professional sounds and a final product you’ll be proud to keep.
My coaching is best suited for intermediate players and up. Lessons cover technique, groove, rudiments, and time signatures. While I respect reading sheet music, I don’t teach that way — we learn by listening, playing, and feeling the music. I accept beginners on a case-by-case basis, focusing on solid fundamentals and technique.
